So I’ve been putting some ads on Craigslist’s personals section lately.

I’ve noticed a few things.

It is a full-time job culling out the posts from bots.

When you post on the dating section almost all responses are from escorts, thinly veiled advertisements of for-pay personals sites (including disguised escort sites), or phishing scams.

When you post on strictly platonic you can actually find real people but .. they are looking for friends.. but I suppose that is a good place to start.

In the last two weeks I have only had one person respond who is genuine and interesting to talk to. However she lives about 18 hours away and only contacted me ’cause she wanted someone to hang out with when she visits next week.

Sometimes it can be pretty amusing. Like the latest from “cherry” who very enthusiastically (with poor grammer/spelling) wants to “hook up” and whose email address has a male name.
