Here’s looking at you.
Ever wonder if you are the life of the party? Is that Avatar standing next to you checking out your latest pair of shoes? How much attention is that floozy getting across the room?
Here is how you can find out the answer to these questions and many more:
To use Show Look At, enable Advanced menu > Character > Show Look At.
Thanks to Richard Linden for this info on what the different colors mean:
* Nothing – dark gray
* Idle – light gray (look straight forward)
* AutoListen – light gray (look at avatars and objects that are talking around you)
* FreeLook – blue (follow the mouse cursor)
* Respond – black (look at someone when typing a response to them)
* Hover – green (look at the object your mouse is hovering over, when tooltips enabled)
* Conversation – dark blue (look at someone after clicking on them)
* Select – pink (look at the selected object)
* Focus – purple (look at the alt-zoom target)
* Mouselook – yellow (follow cursor in mouselook)There are various values that control how long these lookats are valid, how they prioritize relative to each other, what the percentage chance of them triggering is, etc. You can find the settings in character/attentions.xml (e.g., C:\Program Files\SecondLife\character\attentions.xml)

This will allow you to see where people are alt-camming or otherwise what direction in the room they are peering towards.
Tricks
If you sit on a prim you cannot be pushed. If you are harassed by large prims, particles, etc you can edit the prim you are sitting on and change the z height position value to a high number ie 200 to escape.
all of the following key combinations are for PC’s I do not know the mac equivalents. If you do then please post!
ctrl+alt+shift+d – enabled advanced menu
from advanced menu some useful options to switch:
disable camera restraints – will remove limit on camera distance.
uncheck limit select distance – allows selecting of far away objects.
Request admin status – allows you to fly in no-fly zones (I havn’t tested this in a while. do not know if it applies anymore)
advanced->character->character tests->go away/afk when idle. no longer get logged out after being idle.
ctrl+alt+t – show transparent objects
ctrl+alt+shift+r – wireframe mode
ctrl+alt+shift+[1-9] turns off various renderings. ie ctrl+alt+shift+7 turns off water so that you can better work with ground under water.
ctrl+shift+[1-4 and 9] – displays statistical information about client and sim performance. Good for determining what textures are biggest and generally how to optimize rez time for visitors.
ctrl+alt+shift+t while a prim is selected. Shows texture information. If you choose “select texture” from build and select and individual face and use this command it will show you the face number.
SLAPP URLS!
Instant Teleport SLURLs:
Normally when you give someone a slurl a box pops up with information about the location after which you have to click on teleport.
However if you make a slight modification to your slurls you can make it so that it immediately teleports as soon as it is clicked on.
Normal Slurl:
http://slurl.com/secondlife/Help%20Island%20Public2/181/202/23
OR
secondlife://Help%20Island%20Public2/181/202/23
Instant Teleport Slurl:
secondlife:///app/teleport/Help%20Island%20Public2/181/202/23
(the important part to notice is the three slashes (///) and the words (app/teleport/) the rest is formed just like a normal SLurl)
This trick uses the viewer URL namespace.

More examples of what can be done with SLAPP URLS:

(includes examples of opening profiles, groups, events, etc,. You can also load this page within the Second Life Client by enabling the advanced menu (CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+D) and then going to Advanced->UI->Web Browser Test)
Enjoy.
